Brodney P. Hill
Memorial Scholarship

This memorial scholarship is generally awarded to a student of African American descent pursuing an undergraduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields. Ideal candidates will also have demonstrated community involvement.
The Brodney P. Hill Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of founder Valyncia Thomas’s younger brother Brodney who passed away when he was 25. At the time of his passing, Brodney had one young son and another on the way. Brodney strove to better himself and was only a couple of classes shy of graduating from college at the time of his death.
Brodney always put others before himself. In 2006, Brodney lost a dear friend and was severely injured in a car accident they were involved in when they stopped to come to the aid of others in need. While working on his own mental and physical recovery, Brodney remained committed to working to make an impact on the world, and to help others in need.
Brodney also loved his dogs and cars. More often than not, you could find Brodney working on his cars. He always welcomed the neighborhood kids to join him in working on his cars and around the yard. Brodney was willing to give the shirt off his back and the shoes off his feet to help someone in need. The family hopes that this scholarship will help a deserving student achieve their goals, especially since Brodney unable to achieve all of his.
